This week in Mr.b's class we had a summer tabloid. A tabloid is a day where all classes in the school go to different stations with different activities some involving water. Heritage alumni came to help man stations. We had a blast! Here's some pictures from the events.

WSO Field Trip!
Last week rooms 19,14 and 20 went to the Winnipeg symphony! Throughout the week our music teacher had been preparing us by listening to the music they would be playing, teaching us songs and even doing art with the song dance of the knights. The symphony was amazing all of the instruments and the choir was really good! A fellow student at heritage was in the choir and her artwork was featured during dance of the knights. Our school was very lucky to go this year and it was a wonderful experience. Written by Katie

Multiplication? By Garrick
Multiplication may be difficult for some Gr. 4's, but don't be scared. Here is an example, 2 x 2 = ?
To get the answer, you need to do repeated addition (2 + 2 = 4). So, 2 x 2 = 4.

Math, Art and Peter Pan!
This week in math, we had a lesson on multiplication which involved Paul Klee's artwork. Mr. B showed us some artwork from Paul Klee and then had us use a grid paper to do our own art. It was very fun! Here are some pictures of the artwork.
Paul Klee's Once Emerged in the Gray of Night
Also this week, on Friday, we went to watch some of our classmates in the Divisional Theatre Musical Production of Peter Pan at Westwood Collegiate! A big applause goes out to Katie, Grace, Naomi and Kaylee for a wonderful job. We also got to see some former Heritage students at the show. It was fantastic!

Buddies
Every Day 6, during period 5, we have buddies with the Kindergarten class in Room 3. Sometimes, we go just to socialize and team build by playing with them, and sometimes we go to read, learn and teach them. This week we all learned about Hannah Taylor, the founder of the Ladybug Foundation. After learning about Hannah, we read books to our buddies. My buddy wasn't there, so I read with my friend instead. It was fun!

Narnia Read Aloud
This week at school we started reading one of the Chronicles of Narnia books called, "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe." We started to read it on Monday, but I've been looking forward to reading it for a while now. I want to know what's on the other side of the wardrobe. Some of us have never read the book or seen the movie. We are doing a novel study with the book, which includes multiple activities. It's been really fun so far!

Happy New Year! Welcome 2015!
Hello all,
It's the start of a new year and we are ready to hit it full throttle as we start some new programs in Room 14, including a weekly blog section which the students will be writing themselves! Along with the new blog postings will also be a revised and updated, "What's Up! Heritage," which the students in Room 14 will be taking on every week. I look forward to some exciting learning and new ideas this year and can't wait to continue working with these students to help them grow into fabulously awesome citizens!
